I’m Calder, and I’m incredibly excited to introduce myself. For 20 years, the water has been my classroom, and teaching has been my passion. I’ve had the privilege of working with countless individuals, helping them discover confidence and safety in the aquatic environment.
My journey in swim instruction has primarily focused on supporting those with additional needs in the water and individuals who’ve experienced water-related trauma. I understand that learning to swim isn’t always straightforward, and for some, it can be a significant step. That’s why I embrace a ‘go low and slow’ approach, always following the lead of each participant. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable, safe, and empowered to learn at your own pace. Your safety is always my number one priority.
I teach all ages and stages, from our youngest Islanders at 6 months old to our wise elders over 100 years young. Whether you’re just getting your toes wet or looking to refine your skills, I’m here to guide you. My expertise lies in foundational learning, breaking down every skill into clear, manageable steps so you build a strong, confident base.
What I believe truly helps me connect with my students is that I am Neurodivergent myself. This personal understanding allows me to approach instruction with a unique empathy, tailoring my methods to genuinely resonate with diverse learning styles. I strive to create an environment where everyone feels completely understood, supported, and ready to achieve their goals in the water.
I can’t wait to meet you and embark on this amazing journey together. Let’s make every splash a step towards confidence and joy in the water!
