Hi, my name is Cheryl, and I have been an Access and Inclusion Instructor for 25 years. I am also neurodivergent. I was born with Juvenile Degenerative Spinal Syndrome, have two prosthetic discs, and have experienced chronic pain since I was 14. Additionally, I am moderately hearing impaired.

I have two sons, aged 19 and 22, both of whom are on the autism spectrum and have multiple co-occurring disabilities. I am also a caregiver for my husband, who has bipolar disorder and severe anxiety and depression. My life revolves around working with and supporting children and adults with neurodiversity.

I provide personalised support, working with children and adults either one-on-one or in small groups, depending on their individual needs. Some thrive in one-on-one sessions, while others benefit from group interactions. My sessions typically consist of 20 minutes one-on-one or 30 minutes with groups of 2 to 3 people.

I work at Canterbury College Pool as part of the swim school. Although the pool is a public facility, it is open to everyone and is staffed with lifeguards to ensure safety, making it a welcoming space for all.
